The Coinbase NFT Marketplace: Everything You Need to Know

First announced in October 2021, the much-anticipated Coinbase NFT Marketplace is now live. The Coinbase NFT Marketplace allows you to create NFTs, collect NFTs, and connect with other NFT enthusiasts.

With this move, Coinbase has joined other popular crypto exchanges like Binance and to participate in the burgeoning NFT space, and it boasts some interesting social features.

The Coinbase NFT Marketplace is currently in beta and is invite-only. If you have joined the waitlist previously, you’ll be invited via email and provided a one-time non-transferable access code with which you can sign up to the marketplace.

All the Key Features of the Coinbase NFT Marketplace

Just like Opensea, one of the foremost NFT Marketplaces available, Coinbase NFT Marketplace also allows you to discover, showcase, and purchase NFTs. Here are all the key features.

1. The Waitlist

Here’s where it all begins. You can still go and join the waitlist, even though the marketplace is effectively up and running. Once you’re on the waitlist, you’ll receive a referral link to share. The more you share the link and refer others, the higher up the queue you’ll climb.

Note that you can still get an invite even without sharing.

2. The Marketplace (0% Coinbase Fees)

Once you’re invited via email to join the beta program, you can use the included access code to access the Coinbase NFT Marketplace which currently hosts works by leading NFT brands such as Crypto Punks, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Moonbirds, Doodles, and Azuki, among others.

3. Open to Anyone on the List

Thankfully, you don’t have to be BAYC-big to get listed on the marketplace. Once you connect your wallet to the marketplace, you can start listing your NFTs for free for a limited time. You can sign up using Coinbase Wallet or MetaMask.

You’ll get a profile where you can add a profile picture, bio, and showcase your work. Your assets are listed under Owned or Created categories.

4. Social Features

The Coinbase NFT Marketplace has a Follow button that allows you to follow other creators or collectors that interest you.

It also has a Comment feature (with upvotes and downvotes) that allows you to leave comments on listed NFTs and interact with other NFT heads. And there’s a Like button too.

Coinbase NFT Marketplace also uses Feeds to algorithmically show you content based on your past purchases or interactions.

The Discover feature allows you to explore NFTs from established and upcoming artists based on either your past purchases or what’s trending.

The Trending collections section lists the 7-day volume for the top trending NFTs of the week, and with the Shop feature, you can start buying the NFTs that you’ve discovered right away.

6. Payments

The Coinbase NFT Marketplace currently only supports the Ethereum blockchain. Plans are in the works to include Mastercard in the future.

7. Support

You can easily reach Coinbase NFT support in different time zones by filling out an online form or phone. If by form, ensure to have all your key information handy.
